SOZOROGOTO presents
"Princess Amnesia"

October 20-22 at Headgate Theatre (Rehearsal Room), Colchester Fringe TICKET LINK

I'm a forgetful princess.

Is it bad to forget?

What happens if I remember who I am?

What did I forget?

In a world without love, why would I want love?

"Princess" that everyone longs for once. But I'm not Snow White, Cinderella, or Sleeping Beauty. I am a forgetful princess.

Is it bad to forget?

What happens if I remember who I am? What did I forget?

In a world without love, why would I want love?

For Princess Amnesia, forgetting is a shield that protects her from her past trauma and the complexity of society, but it also gives her despair.

Like a disjointed puzzle, her memories and emotions are deranged and she loses her identity as to who she is.

This production is based on the issues she faced, such as young carers, mental disabilities, and child neglects. However, behind this lies social issues such as discrimination and exploitation of foreign workers in Japan that her parents' generation experienced.

Princess Amnesia not only expresses the crisis of individual identity, but her figure is a mirror that reflects society, depicting the crisis of modern society.

By digging deep into her forgotten memories, audiences will experience the crisis the world's young people face across borders.

Can a person truly know themselves without the memories that shape their identity?

Is it easy to find an identity in the modern society we live in now?

Is Princess Amnesia, born of modern society, abnormal?

In a world without love, why would we want love?

This is the world premiere of this production.

A fantastically distorted love comedy starring human beings and their amorous lies! All the awkward aspects of love are on full display here – along with over-the-top costumes, earworm music and super-epic dance moves.

This is fun with a Japanese flavor! Go taste it!

- Adelaide Theatre Guide

This production could be described as KABUKI meets The Mikado meets Rashomon - the modern version.

- SAN DIEGO Reader

It was truly an out-of-this-world experience. I was expecting something crazy from these Osaka folks, but I didn’t expect it to be that crazy.

- TODAY For Art’s Sake!, Singapore

The hilariously distorted views of love, however, have an underlying message that will have you talking long after the performance. You’d be mad to miss it.

- Rip it up magazine

In the "Forest of Truth", its residents are waiting to reveal the lies found in the human world. One day, a Man and a Woman step into the forest and immediately they fall in love. However, the residents of the forest then reveal the hidden aspects of their hearts.

"MIND EATER" at Orlando Fringe Festival

20 May 2021

"★★★★★Brilliant! One of the zaniest, wickedest, funniest things this year! MUST SEE!! – talkfringe

MIND EATER is being revived especially for presentation at this years' Orlando Fringe.
The powerful performance is characterized by Gumbo's trademark grotesque yet simple stage art, colourful and imaginative costumes and powerful music. Full of dark humour, the piece throws truth and lies into focus and begs you to consider "what is human life?"

13 & Up - Sexual Content

60 Minutes

The performance on Sunday, May 30th at 9:45pm will have ASL Interpretation available.

This performance is part of the 2021 Orlando Fringe Theater Festival.  A 2021 Festival Button AND a show ticket are required for entry to the performance.

Gumbo Theatre of Osaka, Japan rocks in this wacky spoof of western culture in a mad cap, physical, scatological comedy that is distinctly Japanese. A huge hit at fringe fests across the US and Canada. Take a Japanese TV game show, mix in anime, take on Trump, Krazy Kitty and over eager Japanese "businessman". It's hard to compare as there is nothing else like it!

GUMBO participates in the make-up show of "Fringe that Never Was" at Edmonton International Fringe Theater Festival. Buying a fake show ticket is a Donation to Fringe. It is a project of a very genius idea.
